Zayn and Taylor Swift Both Went Solo & Acoustic for Fifty Shades

Double the pleasure! It turns out that Taylor Swift and Zayn Malik’s chart-topping duet, “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” is just as intoxicating as a solo act.

On Thursday both singers shared videos of their own acoustic renditions of the heady hit off the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack. Because they are, first and foremost, solo acts. As if we could forget!

It was Swift who offered up her pared-down version first. A video posted to her official Youtube account, shows the pop princess rehearsing the song for her upcoming DirecTV Now Super Saturday Night appearance. Dressed in a black turtleneck and red pants, Swift showcased her guitar skills as she performed her slow, emotional version of the track. The 27-year-old’s DirecTV Now special will air on Saturday night, and tickets are available by invitation only.

Not long after Swift, Zayn also took to Youtube with his own acoustic take on the track (above). The former One Directioner’s version sounds slightly more hip-hop inspired than Swift’s, and we’d be lying if we said his signature runs didn’t give us chills. Especially with the strumming of a guitar in the background.

But don’t worry. These dueling videos aren’t any indication of bad blood between the IRL friends. In fact, Swift only has good things to say about working with Zayn. In a behind the scenes video posted to her Instagram, Swift said the following: “It’s amazing when you get to work with people that you hang out because the question of will we get along is already answered. He’s also incredibly talented and I feel really lucky to do this song that I’m really proud of with him.”

The soundtrack will be available ($13; amazon.com) the same day as the movie, which steams up theaters on Feb. 10.
