Becky Lynch was officially set up as Asuka’s challenger for the Royal Rumble on this week’s episode of SmackDown.
Lynch defeated Carmella and Charlotte in a triple threat number one contender’s match in the main event, then went face-to-face with Asuka to close the show. Lynch submitted Carmella with the Dis-Arm-Her to get the win.
Shane McMahon & The Miz were also announced as the next challengers for Cesaro & Sheamus’ SmackDown Tag Team titles, the build to Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles’ WWE Championship match at the Royal Rumble continued, Rey Mysterio & Mustafa Ali teamed against Samoa Joe & Andrade “Cien” Almas, and Rusev was looking to get revenge on Shinsuke Nakamura.
