The planning is on for next April’s WWE WrestleMania 38 in Dallas, Texas.
According to Dave Meltzer in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has been in contact with AT&T Stadium officials with several ideas on how to approach the weekend in addition to Friday’s SmackDown and Monday’s Raw.
As of now, just one date has been announced: Sunday, April 3rd. However, doing two days of WrestleMania is under consideration. Right now, they are “looking into planning, security, insurance, cost of production, length of the event (two days vs. one day) and other locations for shows that weekend,” he wrote.
One idea was having both the Sunday WrestleMania and Monday’s Raw at AT&T with a 40,000-seat setup.
Complicating matters, they cannot run the go-home SmackDown at the American Airlines Center as it’s booked for a Dallas Mavericks NBA game. Meltzer said that SmackDown could be pre-taped, but they may not want to do that this year with Fox.
Meltzer said the 32,000-seat Gerald Ford Stadium, located on the campus of Southern Methodist University, is also under consideration for both SmackDown and Raw because of the amount of fans they expect to be in town for the weekend.
