Times Square terror plot suspect is lone wolf from Queens

A Queens man is facing federal charges for allegedly plotting…

Alam stood quietly as his mother cried into her headdress.

Prosecutor David Kessler said Alam had “taken specific steps to plan an attack,” including “research on Times Square and firearms, explosives.”

The suspect also “got Lasik surgery to be able to shoot more accurately,” Kessler said.

Alam, from Jackson Heights, Queens, received the surgery in April and claimed he didn’t want his eyeglasses to create a debacle during the terror strike — leading him to be dubbed the “Looney Tunes Terrorist” or “Blind Terrorist.”

He allegedly discussed buying suicide vests and hand grenades — but opted instead to shoot up the Crossroads of the World, the documents said. He was charged with knowingly receiving two firearms with obliterated serial numbers in Brooklyn as part of the plot.

Judge Cheryl Pollack decided that Alam should be remanded.

“I feel based on all other circumstances and his stated intent he is a danger to the community and I’m requesting he be permanently detained,” the judge said. “He’s a risk of flight because he has family in another country. These are serious allegations.”
