The Best Boxers To Battle In The WWE

Floyd Mayweather takes on Conor McGregor later this summer as two of the biggest sports stars combine for a cross-sport clash in the boxing ring. Mayweather, who is coming out of retirement to take on the UFC fighter, has not ruled out another appearance in the WWE in the near future, while there have been rumours that McGregor would sign a contract if the terms were right for a spell.
Mayweather is unbeaten in 49 fights as a professional and is expected to defeat McGregor. The American is 1/9 with the bookmakers to bring his record up to 50 wins, with McGregor available at 6/1 to triumph in the ring.
The Vegas contest is set to be one of the most watched sporting events of 2017 and, such is the scale of the event, bookmakers will be offering free bets and promotions ahead of the bout. According to all the relevant betting information for Mayweather v McGregor, there are a range of different markets available, including for the fight not to go the distance and for Mayweather to win in the sixth round.
With both men linked with an appearance in the WWE in the near future, here is a look at some of the best boxers to grace the wrestling industry over the last three decades.

Wrestlemania is the biggest event in wrestling and, when it was inaugurated in 1985, there were a number of celebrities involved in the card. One of those was Mohammed Ali, who featured in the build-up to the event and was the special guest referee alongside Pat Patterson for the tag team match where Hulk Hogan and Mr T defeated Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff.
Mike Tyson

During his break from boxing in the late 1990s, Mike Tyson became a member of D-Generation X where he joined forces with Shawn Michaels, who was defending his title against Stone Cold Steve Austin at Wrestlemania XIV. Tyson was announced as the special enforcer for the fight and was expected to help Michaels retain his belt. In a twist in Boston, Massachusetts, Tyson was quick to count to three when Austin had Michaels pinned. The leader of D-Generation X confronted Tyson for this actions so the former world heavyweight champion punched him to the floor and revealed an Austin 3:16 t-shirt to the delight of the crowd.

If Mayweather chooses to sign up to the WWE it won’t be the first time the unbeaten boxer has appeared on the platform. The welterweight fighter was involved in a feud with the Big Show in 2008 that ended in a boxing match at Wrestlemania XXIV. Despite his disadvantage in size, Mayweather went on to win that fight and broke the Big Show’s nose. Maybe the pair will meet in a rematch in the near future or Mayweather could even be locked in a storyline with Brock Lesner, who is also a former MMA star.
Whatever happens in Vegas in August, both Mayweather and McGregor know how to market themselves and it would no surprise to see the two men appear in WWE later in 2017 or early into 2018 in the build up to Wrestlemania 34 in New Orleans.
