Teacher guilty of classroom sex with teen is sprung from prison
A former Ohio middle school teacher convicted of having sex with a 14-year-old inside a locked classroom is out of prison — after trying twice unsuccessfully to be sprung early, correction officials said.
Jessica Langford, a 33-year-old who previously taught math at Miamisburg Middle School, was released Tuesday after completing a one-year sentence, the Dayton Daily News reports. She must now register as a Tier III sex offender, the state’s most serious classification, according to the outlet.
Langford, of Centerville, was convicted in April 2018 of sexual battery and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor after the boy testified that Langford told him to “stick to the story” when the school’s principal interrupted their tryst by knocking on a locked classroom door on the last day of school in May 2017.
“We started kissing and it escalated from there,” the teen — the son of a police officer — told jurors.
As a Tier III sex offender, Langford must now register her address and employment status with authorities in the county she resides in every 90 days for the rest of her life, a spokesman for the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office told the newspaper.
Langford, who must now also serve five years of probation, had no disciplinary infractions during her time behind bars, a spokesperson for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction said.

Court records show that Langford tried unsuccessfully on two occasions to be released early from state custody, writing a judge as recently as December and billing herself as a “model prisoner” whose young daughter and ailing mother desperately needed her presence.
Prosecutors, meanwhile, challenged Langford’s early release, saying the letter of apology she read in court was her chance to take responsibility for her actions.
Langford could not be reached for comment on Thursday.
