Taylor Swift is making “memories” on the set of “Cats.”

“My first memories of performance go back to when I was in Pennsylvania growing up,” says Swift in the clip, originally posted to YouTube. “My favorite thing was getting to be theatrical, to tell a story. And I’ve always brought that sort-of narrative element to my live shows.”
The 2019 film — set to premiere in December of this year, according to IMDB — tells the story a group of felines called the Jellicles, at the moment they must decide which of them is to be reborn. In the meantime, fans can look forward to a first-look trailer out this Friday.
In addition to Swift, “Cats” stars Idris Elba, James Corden, Rebel Wilson, Jennifer Hudson, Jason Derulo, Dame Judi Dench and Sir Ian McKellen.
Dench was cast in the 1981 original production of the musical, but had to pull out due to an ankle injury. “I thought that was my history with ‘Cats,’” she says in the video. “But it turns out not to be.”
Fans of Beyonce’s “Homecoming” will recognize dancers Les Twins in the clip.
Andy Blankenbuehler, who choreographed “Hamilton,” is behind the film’s dance moves.
In the video, fans get to see the larger-than-life set-pieces built for the movie. “It’s just so much fun to play in,” says Wilson.
According to the clip, director Tom Hooper is using technology to create a digital fur covering on his actors.
“These are people, but they’re cats — it’s kind of blowing my mind,” says Corden, of the technology.
