Spain should not expect another Rafael Nadal, says David Ferrer

In an interview to Razon, the former world No. 3 commented on the Next Generation potential. Zverev is young but already a reality. You also have Thiem, Tsitsipas. A lot of very good players are coming, very talented players, but Spain should not expect another Nadal, said the 36-year-old.

On how his off-season went, Ferrer added: It was not usual because I was with my family in Javea but I also trained, I had commitments, there is the Academy and I saw matches because I keep liking tennis. Ferrer does not plan to compete at any Grand Slam in 2019.

Why? I was happy to end my Grand Slam career with a match on the US Open central court against Rafa. At these levels, I do not like to play on the court 19 in a Grand Slam. On what convinced him to retire, Ferrer said: There was a moment in which you see you do not win matches that you are used to doing or you cannot play the tournament you would love to.

There you see its a good moment to finish. ALSO READ: Rafael Nadal: Worse players than David Ferrer won a Grand Slam title
