The Supreme Court of India on Tuesday set aside the central government’s order of sending CBI director Alok Verma on leave.
The decision comes three months after the government divested the director of his powers and sent him on forced leave. Justice SK Kaul was a part of the three-judge bench who was hearing the CBI v/s CBI case and pronounced the verdict.
While delivering the verdict the SC said the contentions raised by the two sides — Alok Verma and the government raised pure questions of law. “The legislative intent of insulating the CBI director is manifest,” it further added, NDTV reported.
