‘Seinfeld Experience’ inspired by iconic sitcom to launch in NYC

Coming soon: a show about nothing, that could really be something.

“The Seinfeld Experience,” opening in New York’s Gramercy neighborhood this fall, promises an immersive, behind-the-scenes, real and spectacular look at the era-defining sitcom.

“Because I am Seinfeld, for a long time I was the only person to actually have the Seinfeld experience,” said Jerry Seinfeld, master of his domain. “Now, these crazy Superfly people are going to make it so lots of people can interact with our silly ’90s TV show.”

Superfly, creators of Bonnaroo and comedy fest Clusterfest, is producing the show in collaboration with Warner Brothers Consumer Products.

“All I can say is, in the general context of the world we live in, this now seems completely normal,” added Seinfeld, who’s probably overcaffeinated from his 11th season of Netflix’s “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.”

The experience will include costumes, memorabilia, re-created sets and props, as well as never-before-seen clips of NYC’s quirky quartet — Jerry Seinfeld, George Costanza, Elaine Benes and Cosmo Kramer — making their wacky way through their daily lives.

“Seinfeld” marks its 30-year anniversary on July 5. The sitcom ran for nine years and its final episode is one of TV’s top -10-watched episodes of all time.

Its plots and catch phrases — “No soup for you!” “Shrinkage!” — have become part of every New Yorker’s vocabulary, not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Seinfeld himself headlined Superfly’s comedy festival Clusterfest in 2017, which re-created the set of the familiar Seinfeld apartment, intercom and all. The comedian will also play the Beacon Theater for four nights this fall; tickets range from $88 to $956.

Prices have yet to be announced for “The Seinfeld Experience,” running through February 2020. They’ll go on sale in the next few months, but why wait? You can enjoy your own “Seinfeld Experience” at home, via reruns or by demand.
