Third Russia to die in Odisha
On December 24, Russian national Pavel Antov died after allegedly falling from a hotel’s third floor. Another Russian national Vladimir Bidenov had earlier died “due to heart attack”.
Antov was a Russian lawmaker and philanthropist. The multi-millionaire was on vacation in the Rayagada region of Odisha, where he was celebrating his 65th birthday. According to the police, he was allegedly found dead, having fallen out of a third-floor hotel window.
The post-mortem report of the Russian MP indicated that he died of internal injury after a fall.
Bidenov, also a part of a group of Russian tourists, was found dead at the same hotel on December 22. He was found unconscious in his room on the hotel’s first floor with a few empty wine bottles around him.
No foul play: Police
On Monday, Odisha DGP S K Bansal said the probe into the two deaths is being conducted with an “open mind” and “no evidence of any foul play” has been found.
“Till now, we have not found anything suspicious into the incident… The investigation is being conducted with an open mind,” he said.
The two deceased’s last rites were completed with their family members’ consent and the Russian Embassy.
Missing Ukraine war critic found
Amid this, another Russian national, Andrew Glagolev, a self-proclaimed anti-Ukraine war activist, had “disappeared” from Bhubaneswar on Friday.
But he was in a market area near Bhubaneswar railway station on Saturday.
His visa has expired and he had applied to the UN for asylum in India, Bhubaneswar GRP in-charge Jaydev Biswajit said.
