There’s nothing on earth like a genuine, bona fide, electrified, 12-car monorail — and next summer, Six Flags Great Adventure will have one of its own.
The Jackson, New Jersey, amusement park’s next new roller coaster — dubbed “Jersey Devil” — will be the longest, tallest and fastest single-rail loop-de-loop in the world, the park announced on Thursday.
“What makes this ride so unique is the single-rail design — it’s a monorail track. There isn’t another coaster like it on the East Coast,” park spokesperson Kristin Fitzgerald said of the track style featured in a beloved musical episode of “The Simpsons.”

At 3,000 feet long with an initial ascent of 130 feet, the Jersey Devil will cut through the park’s woods at a max speed of 58 mph, putting riders through multiple thrills — including an 87-degree first drop, a 180-degree spin and a zero-gravity, 360-degree twist.
Park-goers will sit single-file in separate cabs, with each train carrying 12 people. The front car will feature the face of the Jersey Devil — the mythical creature from the state’s Pine Barrens region.
The Jersey Devil will replace the park’s old “Looney Tunes Seaport,” which opened in 1999.
