Paris Saint-Germain defender Sergio Ramos has missed out on the Spain team for the World Cup, which was unveiled this Friday afternoon by manager Luis Enrique.
The 36-year-old, who has 180 caps in a storied international career, was part of the extended list but has not made the final cut. He has not played for La Roja since 2021, but has bounced back from a first year at PSG that was marred by injury to become a consistent starter under Christophe Galtier.
His club teammates Carlos Soler and Pablo Sarabia, however, have both made the squad. The former joined the Ligue 1 leaders over the summer and has two goals in 11 appearances in all competitions – having only just begun to carve out a consistent spot in the line-up. Fabián Ruiz, another Iberian summer recruit for PSG, misses out as a result of his adductor injury which has kept him out since the start of the month.
