According to Fabrizio Romano, World Cup star Azzedine Ounahi will not feature among Paris Saint-Germain’s transfer targets, as he does not fit into Luis Campos’ plans. Campos, PSG’s Football Advisor, will opt instead to place his trust homegrown talents.
22-year-old Ounahi, who starred in Morocco’s historic journey to the World Cup semi-finals in Qatar last month, has placed himself firmly on the radars of many European clubs. But PSG, regular purveyors of Ligue 1 talent, will look to other young prospects to fill such a vacancy, and will not take part in the inevitable frenzy. Such prospects include 16-year-old Warren Zaïre-Emery, who PSG plan to deploy more often going forward.
The recent arrivals of Carlos Soler, Vitinha, Renato Sanches, and Fabián Ruiz at PSG also point towards a saturated midfield: if the French champions had approached Ounahi, there is every chance he would spend the rest of the season on the bench. As a young and exciting player, it is vital that Ounahi continues to progress through ample game time: whether that will be in Ligue 1 or elsewhere is yet to be known.
