Preseason Rankings Include North Dakota State’s Ream, Sykora, Fogarty & Bengston

FARGO, N.D. – Four North Dakota State University wrestlers – 133 Cam Sykora, 141 Mitch Bengston, 157 Clay Ream and 165 Andrew Fogarty — have been included in NCAA Division I preseason rankings in their respective weight classes by five different websites, magazines or organizations (WIN Magazine, TrackWrestling, The Open Mat, InterMat, FloWrestling and Amateur Wrestling News).

North Dakota State head coach Roger Kish, who enters his seventh season, directed the Bison to a 14-5 dual record overall including 4-3 in the Big 12 Conference. NDSU placed fourth in the Big 12 Conference championships last season.

Ream, a redshirt senior from Wentzville, Mo., is a three-time NCAA qualifier and two-time NCAA Elite 90 Division I Wrestling Award winner. He was the Big 12 Conference runner-up at 157 pounds and was ranked from No. 13 to No. 21 in the preseason rankings. He has a 71-36 career record including 31-10 in duals with 14 pins.

Bengtson, a redshirt senior from St. Cloud, Minn., qualified for the 2015 NCAA tournament at 141 pounds. He was ranked No. 15 by WIN Magazine. Bengston is coming back from an injury that sidelined him all last season. He has a 39-24 career record including 13-6 in duals with 14 pins.

Sykora, a redshirt sophomore from Wheaton, Minn., qualified at 133 pounds for the NCAA tournament last season. He was ranked from No. 13 to No. 20 in the preseason rankings. Sykora compiled a 26-8 overall record including 12-0 in duals with four pins.

Fogarty, a redshirt sophomore from Jordan, Minn., qualified for the NCAA tournament at 165 pounds last season. He was ranked No. 19 by TrackWrestling and No. 20 by Amateur Wrestling News. Fogarty compiled a 23-13 record overall including 12-5 in duals with four pins.

North Dakota State opens the regular season with the 47th annual Bison Open at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, in the Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex. NDSU hosts Big 12 Conference powerhouse Oklahoma State at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26.
