Move over, Danica and Aaron, there’s another athletic power couple climbing the ranks in the NFL.
Following Monday’s epic thriller between the Rams and Chiefs, in which Los Angeles held on to a 54-51 lead, Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes found solace in girlfriend Brittany Matthews, who offered support after the loss.
“Sure missed this guy❤️ #greatgame,” she posted on Instagram.
The two would then take in a Texas Tech’s 70-52 hoops win over Nebraska on Tuesday night, according to TMZ. Mahomes starred for the Red Raiders football team before taking the NFL by storm. He’s been dating Matthews since high school.
A graduate from the University of Texas at Tyler, Matthews, 23, graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology before continuing her soccer career abroad in Iceland. She has since shifted focus to fitness full-time.
“I feel most confident in workout clothes and tennis shoes #oops #fitnessclothes>dressupclothes,” she wrote on Instagram in August.
An avid Chiefs supporter, Matthews is a staple on the sidelines at Arrowhead Stadium on game days.
“Just my baller boyfriend?❤️,” Matthews gushed about Mahomes in October.
Though Mahomes has lead the Chiefs to a 9-2 season thus far, the young couple has dealt with their fair share of hardships in recent months, including the sudden passing of Matthews’ stepfather.
“Today is a day I will never forget! Directly after this picture I sprinted to the front entrance to see my step dad passed out! He did not come back from this and he was called to heaven today! I KNOW 100% he is so happy up there with his kids looking down on us cheering loud that his chiefs won today,” she revealed on Nov. 11.
With Mahomes off until Sunday, Dec. 2, when the Chiefs play in Oakland, the quarterback will likely be enjoying the holiday season with his No. 1 fan.
