During last night’s WWE SmackDown on FOX, former three time Women’s Champion and current host on WWE Backstage on FS1, Paige, appeared via Skype. As Michael Cole welcomed Paige to the show, he looked towards the jumbotron above the stage in the WWE Performance Center where the live stream of Paige could be seen.
Before Paige could get through the words, “I’m baack…” she was interrupted by WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley who was accompanied to the ring by partner-in-crime Sasha Banks. Bayley sarcastically instructed Paige to get on with what she had to say so everyone could “continue to forget about her like they’d been doing.”
Paige didn’t take too kindly to the insults by Bayley, at one point even mockingly acknowledging Bayley’s hierarchy as Paige stated sarcastically, “right, because the ‘Women’s Evolution’ is over and the ‘Role Model Era of Dominance’ has just begun!” Bayley responded back in an atrocious attempt at a British accent, “That’s right baby girl!”
At one point in their back and forth banter, Paige points out to Bayley that “it’s Wrestlemania season, baby!” Paige then slyly added, “I can’t wait to see who takes your title. So, I spoke to my good friends at Fox and asked to be the one to announce your match at Wrestlemania.” Bayley retorting that she had already beaten everyone in the Women’s division, so there was no match for Wrestlemania, adding that she and Banks would most likely skip Wrestlemania and head straight to the Hall of Fame, stating “Fox was wrong.”
Paige went on to say that Bayley would defend her SmackDown Women’s Championship against “the classy, the sassy, the sexy Southern Belle Lacey Evans.” Interrupting Paige once again, Bayley stated that she had already beaten Lacey, asking Paige if she had even seen the Royal Rumble match as she continued laughing. Paige patiently allowed Bayley to mock the announcement, then informed Bayley that she wasn’t quite done just yet.
Paige named Dana Brooke next as an opponent for the Wrestlemania match alongside Lacey Evans to go against Bayley in a SmackDown Women’s Title bout. Bayley still laughing with Banks in the ring and seemingly unconcerned suggests that Paige add the likes of Tamina. “If she still works here,” Bayley added. Paige happily complied, as she continued, “Let’s add some more, shall we?” After naming off the three women already confirmed, Paige added, “Naomi” to the list of participants for the title match up.
Sasha Banks finally chimed in calling Paige a “b****” stating, “how dare you do this to my friend!” Paige thanked Banks for chiming in, as Paige could finally name the sixth member of the elimination match, pointing to Banks and simply responding, “You.” Banks’s expression immediately change and Bayley quickly exited the ring and headed for the backstage area leaving her “best friend” to sort of her thoughts following the match bombshell.
By the end of their back and forth exchange, Bayley was set for a 6-Pack Elimination Challenge against Lacey Evans, Dana Brooke, Tamina, Naomi, and finally Sasha Banks for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at Wrestlemania 36, the two day pay-per-view event set to take place Saturday, April 4th and Sunday, April 5th at the Performance Center in Orlando, FL (along with multiple other locations still to be announced, also with no crowds).
