NXT post-TakeOver conference call notes: Gargano Done?, NXT moving?, “Blood and Guts”

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)…

Paul “Triple H” Levesque hosted a post-TakeOver conference tonight; here are some highlights.

-This was the highest-grossing NXT show in Canada.

-Levesque says they didn’t call this match “Three Stages of Hell” because they wanted to do something different with the last fall.

-Levesque mentioned that William Regal was out there at the end as a fan and reminds everyone they’re all fans, and he appreciated what Johnny did. He said “Maybe this is a swan song…we’ll see. There’s another show this weekend.”

-Levesque said the sky is the limit for The Street Profits. He says they’re on Raw every week, but when you’re that entertaining, you get more opportunities. He says Montez Ford is only going to get better.

-A caller asked if the main event was at odds with Vince McMahon’s claim that we’re not going toward blood and guts. Triple H gets riled at the caller as he explains there wasn’t any. It’s worth hearing.

-He said the women’s division is ready for the next wave and that tonight was a real breakthrough for Io Shirai, and for Candice LeRae as well. He said “I think Mia Yim is a factor” as well.

-Levesque said there’s “a lot of speculation” about NXT right now, but for now it’s on Wednesday nights on the WWE Network.

FINAL THOUGHTS: I went in expecting this call to potentially be a formal announcement about NXT moving and expanding to two hours, but it ended up being an innocuous call with limited information, other than the possibility of Johnny Gargano moving on. He also seemed to hedge on Mia Yim after the praise for Io Shirai and Candice LeRae. Looks like we’ll have to wait a bit to get the FS1 announcement.
