NXT: Adam Cole & Lio Rush Wrestle First Matches, Tag Team Returns

One of the hottest free agents in all of wrestling signed with WWE over the summer, and he shocked the world by debuting at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III. Adam Cole left Ring of Honor to join NXT, and he is currently aligned with Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish on the show. Until last night’s NXT television tapings, he still had yet to compete in a match for the company. Cole made his NXT in-ring debut during the television tapings in a match against SAnitY leader Eric Young. The match was taped and will be airing on a future episode of NXT very soon. In the meantime, Cole, Fish, and O’Reilly are still running roughshod over the NXT locker room on television presently.

Adam Cole isn’t the only former Ring of Honor star who wrestled their first match for NXT during last night’s tapings. It has also been reported that Lio Rush appeared during the tapings. Rush had been scheduled to face off against Aleister Black in a match, but Rush was attacked by The Velveteen Dream before the match began. Later on, Rush did wrestle in another match, this time against The Velveteen Dream, but he was defeated by the elbow drop. Lio Rush and The Velveteen Dream (then Patrick Clark) actually wrestled as a tag team in Maryland Championship Wrestling before they each signed with WWE. Rush’s appearances should be airing shortly as well.

Another return took place during the show, though this time, it was a tag team returning to the ring after missing several months of action. It appears as though TM-61 returned during tonight’s NXT tapings and they picked up a win over Wesley Blake and Steve Cutler. TM-61 member Shane Thorne suffered a knee injury that kept him out of action for most of the year, and his partner Nick Miller has been kept off of television while Thorne recuperated. Unlike Adam Cole and Lio Rush’s matches, it appears that this match may have been a dark match that took place before the show started, and it will likely not air on television.
