Novak Djokovic can have Roger Federer's longevity, says Jim Courier
The former world No. 1 believes the 31-year-old can dominate tennis until 2024 or 2025. The Serb was back as the world no. 1 in November last year and he seems ready to triumph on a consistent basis again and again.
Courier made a comparison with longevity, as the 37-year-old is still able to compete at the highest level. During a press conference for Tennis Channel, Courier said: I think I said this to (New York Times writer) Christopher Clarey this time last year actually when Roger was getting back to number one.
He said, Is it feasible anyone else could do it at that age? And I said I absolutely think Novak can and is a very good bet to if he stays healthy because hes taken that Tom Brady mentality of taking such good care of his body, hes worked on his flexibility as long as hes been in the game and he cares about his diet and all of that.
So I see no reason why he wouldnt be capable of being number one in the world for the next five or six years the same way Roger was and has been if he stays healthy. On how many Majors, Djokovic can get in the future, Courier concluded: I think 17 is gettable; Im not sure thats a static number for Nadal.
