New Japan Star Kota Ibushi Calls G1 Climax the “Toughest Tour in the World”

New Japan Pro Westling phenom Kota Ibushi is the latest star to comment on the company’s upcoming event in Dallas, Texas.

That event is the G1 Climax Tour and will kick off on July 6 from the American Airlines Arena. It’s the first time that the historic tournament has ever happened in a country outside of Japan. The current IWGP Intercontinental champion talked about how important the tour is, as well as what he wants to do in Dallas.

“G1 Climax is the greatest tournament in the entire wrestling industry. A league tournament showcasing the best heavyweights. I think G1 is the toughest tour in the world.

It’s a great honor to have a match in Dallas. I’m looking forward to it. I want to show my usual wrestling. The same wrestling we have in Japan. What everyone calls ‘strong style’ is now evolving within me.”

Ibushi went on to say that fans want to see strong style in the ring and he wants to show it to them. He also wants the crowd to cheer him on, which they most certainly will.

The Golden Star is one of the most popular attractions in New Japan. His reign as IWGP Intercontinental champion began when he defeated Tetsuya Naito at the G1 Supercard on April 6. The two men will once again square off for the title in a rematch at Dominion in Osaka, Japan on June 9.
