Michelle Obama rents bonkers $23M mansion for brief LA visit
She’s gone from Chicago to Washington, DC — and this week, former first lady Michelle Obama made a move to Los Angeles — but just for a day.
TMZ reports that Obama rented an exclusive, nearly 13,000-square-foot spread in the posh Hollywood Hills neighborhood this past Monday and Tuesday.
It’s not clear how much she paid for the very short-term rental — the four-bedroom mansion is listed for sale asking $22.9 million — or why she rented it in the first place.
An industry source tells TMZ that Michelle may be scoping out the area, or this home, to settle out West. She and former President Barack Obama will soon be empty nesters. And now that the couple has inked a deal with Netflix to produce films and shows, TMZ adds, a Los Angeles home base would be convenient.
This 2018-built home is dubbed the Shark House because it features an open-air shark aquarium. We don’t recommend swimming with them, but should the Obamas choose to settle here, they’ll also get a swimming pool with lots of lounge seating.
The property at 9255 Swallow Drive additionally includes a full spa, a humidor room, a movie theater, a walk-in wine room and an entertainment area with a freezer for vodka and tequila.
