Meghan Markle’s “About” Page on the Royal Family’s Website Leaves Out an Important Detail from Her Past

While Meghan Markle, or shall we say the Duchess of Sussex, was just admitted into the British monarchy yesterday following her marriage to Prince Harry, the royal family has already added her on the official website with her own page.

On the “About” page, which addresses Meghan by her new title, details her charitable spirit that developed at a young age when she volunteered at a soup kitchen on Skid Row. It also explains how the 36-year-old came to develop her feminist perspective. However, the section omits one very important detail about Markle’s pre-royal past.

The duchess’s acting career has been seemingly erased within this section, with not a mention of her starring role in Suits or any other TV shows. Though, if you navigate a bit more, you can find her career highlights on her “Biography” page, where her lifestyle website, The Tig, is also mentioned.

“After university Her Royal Highness worked as an actress, appearing in film and television,” the biography page reads. “She most notably played the role of Rachel Zane on the series Suits for seven seasons, completing over 100 episodes. Whilst working on Suits, The Duchess moved to Toronto, Canada where the show was filmed; she feels very connected to Canada, as it became a second home to her.”

“Alongside her successful career as an actress, Her Royal Highness also wrote and edited a lifestyle website called The Tig which she used as a platform to discuss social issues such as gender equality in addition to articles on travel, food and fashion.”

The “About” section boldly highlights her stance as a feminist with her quote that reads: “I am proud to be a woman and a feminist.” The page also reveals her involvement in UN Women, World Vision, and One Young World, explaining: “These early experiences helped to shape her lifelong commitment to causes such as social justice and women’s empowerment.”

In the next coming months, Meghan will choose new charities to support as a royal, as she has already left behind her roles with the previous causes before her wedding.

Kate Middleton, Meghan’s new sister-in-law, parlayed her passions for art, children, and sports into charity work, supporting a number of organizations, including The National History Museum, East Anglia Children’s Hospital, and Sportsaid.

Considering her outspoken feminist views, we’re sure Meghan will be an advocate for several women’s charities in the U.K. In fact, she already planted the seed while speaking about the Time’s Up and #MeToo movements alongside Harry, Prince William, and Kate back in February.

“I hear a lot of people speaking about girls’ empowerment and women’s empowerment—you will hear people saying they are helping women find their voices,” she said at the event highlighting The Royal Foundation. “I fundamentally disagree with that because women don’t need to find their voices—they need to be empowered to use it and people need to be urged to listen.”

“Right now with so many campaigns like #MeToo and Time’s Up, there’s no better time to continue to shine a light on women feeling empowered and people supporting them,” she added.
