A man was stabbed three times in the back by a stranger during a dispute in the Lower East Side, police and law enforcement sources said Tuesday.
The 36-year-old man began arguing with Avery Monserrate, 22, around 4:40 a.m. Monday on Ludlow Street near Delancey Street, police and sources said.
Monserrate then allegedly used a blade to stab the 36-year-old three times in the back before fleeing, the sources said.
Cops nabbed Monserrate just over a block away on Broome Street and charged him with two counts of assault and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center with non-life threatening injuries.
It wasn’t immediately clear what prompted the fight.
