‘Love, Antosha’ review: Doc pays moving homage to Anton Yelchin

Anton Yelchin, a gifted actor gone far too soon at 27, is the subject of “Love, Antosha,” a lovely and loving documentary from first-time feature director Garret Price.

Even those familiar with the tousle-haired “Star Trek” performer likely won’t know his back story, from Russian ice-skater parents, who moved to America after he was born, to a lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis.

As with the doc “I Am Heath Ledger,” it helps to have a multitalented entertainer who obsessively chronicled his own creative process.

Alongside celebrity testimonials — Kristen Stewart mentions “he kinda broke my heart” — Price shares countless home videos of Yelchin and striking photos he took, as a hobby, at seedy LA clubs in the Valley.

“Love, Antosha” manages to be both a deeply sad farewell and a fascinating introduction.
