One of the most outspoken (and divisive) people associated with sports in the United States could be appearing on Raw tomorrow night.
Pro Wrestling Sheet reported yesterday that WWE is working on a deal for LaVar Ball to make an appearance on this Monday’s episode of Raw in Los Angeles, California. Our Dave Meltzer notes that he had heard the same thing, with the deal being worked on but not done yet.
LaVar, the father of new Los Angeles Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball, has become a controversial figure by seemingly playing a pro wrestling heel in the media since his son started to gain traction as an NBA prospect.
Among his many statements, LaVar has said that he would have beaten Michael Jordan in a game of one-on-one in his prime despite never making the NBA and that Lonzo is better than former two-time NBA MVP Steph Curry.
LaVar has also gotten a lot of attention for constantly pushing the family’s “Big Baller Brand” apparel company, whose signature product is a $495 pair of Lonzo Ball sneakers.
Lonzo was selected second overall by the Lakers in last week’s NBA draft.
Along with more build to the Great Balls of Fire pay-per-view, Brock Lesnar returning to television and the first in-person segment with Goldust and R-Truth since Goldust turned heel are advertised for tomorrow’s episode of Raw.
