La Grange Home Priced At $3.8M, Assessed For Far Less

LA GRANGE, IL – The house at 500 S. Edgewood Ave. in La Grange is selling for nearly $3.8 million, the most expensive on the local market.

In Cook County’s eyes, the property is worth $1.4 million, according to its tax assessment. Last year, the property taxes amounted to $21,441. They would easily be double that if the house were assessed anywhere near the current price.

There’s another thing about the three-story house: Since 2009, it has been the home of Zach Filkins, lead guitarist for the Grammy-nominated OneRepublic band.

The 45-year-old Filkins and his wife, Lindsay Feris, are moving to be closer to their winery in Coloma, Michigan, according to a story in Mansion Global, an online publication.

“Since Lindsay and I have been married, it has been a dream of ours to own and operate a vineyard and winery, and last year we were honored to have been offered the opportunity to take over and rebrand an existing winery in Coloma, Michigan,” Filkins told Mansion Global. “We quickly discovered that we could not successfully operate this property from Illinois, so although it breaks our hearts, we must say goodbye to this home.”

Since he bought the house, Filkins has renovated and expanded it.

The 5,300-square-foot house includes five bedrooms and 6½ bathrooms.
