Kvitova: 'On WTA fans know more players than just Federer, Nadal, Murray'

In an interview to CNN the two-time Wimbledon champion commented on the absence of a real dominant player on the WTA Tour. Kvitova also made an interesting comparison with the ATP Tour where the Big Three – – have won 51 Grand Slam titles so far.

I remember Serena being No. 1 for a while, and Caroline [Wozniacki] for a while. Now we have a lot of champions, and its nice. Fans know more players than just Roger, Rafa and Murray, said Kvitova. Every opponent is dangerous.

Womens tennis is very close, and the level of the players is very tight. There isnt a big gap between the top 10 and top 50. There are so many consistent players, and its so open, just to be in the top 10 again is unbelievable.

Especially considering the top ranking is now within her reach. On her chances in Melbourne to go far, Kvitova added: Im still in the tournament, so its kind of tough to think about the streak. But I will tell when the streak will finish.

For sure now it feels great to win the tournament, its something really great in the beginning of the season. The feeling in Sydney was just amazing. That was great one for me. Im enjoying that streak, for sure. I did have two big ones last year, so hopefully Im not finishing on number eight right now, and well see.
