John Millman defends Nick Kyrgios: 'We will see a different guy'

is confident that will be able to deliver his best tennis in the next years. Speaking to Update New Bulletin, Millman said: I think we will see a different guy in his late 20s to what we see now.

Mature players, think John McEnroe and Serena Williams, can still demonstrate appalling behaviour. So I think it better to judge [Kyrgios] later on. Millman also commented on his decision to undergo surgery in order to solve a shoulder issue: It had to be done.

If you wanted to build a professional career you had to play in these tournaments. I thought I was going to be decent enough that money would just come, but then reality hits you. You realise you are an extremely small fish in an ocean.

And you realise how tricky it is not to be able to invest in yourself that well, even if its getting a good meal when you are playing. He then added: I had to make a decision: do I take the wildcard and fulfil a lifelong dream and play in the French Open, but walk onto the court and not play well and not be competitive? The money comes into your head too 30,000.

I ended up rescinding the wildcard. Tennis Australia gave it to a new young player called… Nick Kyrgios. ALSO READ: Rafael Nadal: Worse players than David Ferrer won a Grand Slam title
