WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross appeared on Inside MMA on AXS TV last night to discuss CM Punk’s transition to the world of mixed martial arts.
Ross said CM Punk is very serious about his new career and is a respectful student of MMA. Punk isn’t getting any younger and JR thinks he felt it was “now or never” to pursue this opportunity.
As for Punk’s chances in UFC, JR says the best fighters are smart and have a feel for the game. It’s hard to say how he’ll do, but Punk will be ready when it’s time to step into the Octagon. Punk has the warrior spirit and the low expectations people have for him will drive him to be successful.
When asked what the pro wrestling world and Vince McMahon in particular think about MMA, JR said a lot of the guys he knows and talks to are big MMA fans.
