Jets report card: A disaster in every spot but one

Grades from the Jets’ 26-22 loss to the Titans on Sunday:

Offense

The offense failed to reach the end zone Sunday. The unit now has three touchdowns in the last five weeks. They Jets had to settle for five field goals, going 0-for-3 in the red zone. QB Josh McCown (17-of-30, 128 yards, 1 INT, 53.2 rating) may have played his last game as a Jet. The wide receivers were invisible. Jermaine Kearse did not have a catch. Robby Anderson had four. Quincy Enunwa had two.

Grade: D

Defense

There were some good moments for the defense, and then it collapsed in the biggest moment. Penalties, big plays and undisciplined play in the second half doomed the Jets. Trumaine Johnson and Jordan Jenkins committed monster penalties on the Titans’ game-winning drive that killed them. QB Marcus Mariota (20-of-35, 282 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT, 4 rushes, 43 yards) was not great, but he made the plays when the Jets needed stops.

Grade: D

Special teams

This was the only unit that could walk out of Nissan Stadium with pride. Kicker Jason Myers was 5-for-5 on field goals, the only scoring weapon the Jets have. Kevin Pierre-Louis blocked a punt. Henry Anderson blocked an extra point. Andre Roberts had a 59-yard kickoff return. Take a bow, Brant Boyer.

Grade: A

Coaching

The Jets continue to be an undisciplined team, and it is probably going to end up costing Todd Bowles his job. I don’t pin this loss on Bowles. The players made the mistakes in this game, not him. Still, it was a sixth straight loss, and he has not been able to stop this spiral. Offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates had some questionable calls down the stretch.
