'Happy' Alexander Zverev ready for Milos Raonic clash

German tennis star Alexander Zverev is in good spirits as he is happy to be in the second week of the Australian Open. The fourth-seeded German saw off Australian wildcard Alex Bolt 6-3 6-3 6-2 to reach the round-of-16 at Melbourne Park.

The world No. 4 previously beat Slovenias Aljaz Bedene in his opener and French Jeremy Chardy in the second round respectively. Zverev blew a two-set lead against Chardy but avoided a shock exit as he managed to get a five-set win over the Frenchman.

After his win over Bolt, Zverev said: Yeah Im in the second week, so… Why wouldnt I be happy?. Theres always things to improve. But I think I played a good match today. I mean, obviously the match with Jeremy was very tough.

Generally speaking, heading into the second week, I feel pretty good. Bolt stepped away from tennis a few years ago but decided to give it another shot. When asked about Bolt, Zverev thinks that the 155th-ranked Australian has a chance to reach the top-50.

Zverev is set for a real test in the round-of-16 as his next opponent will be 2016 Wimbledon runner-up Milos Raonic. The German leads the head-to-head record against the Canadian 4-1. I mean, we played twice, once on clay, once or grass, which were two very different matches obviously.

Hes playing very well. Only lost a set to Stan in the tournament so far, Zverev said of his upcoming match against Raonic. Its going to be a fun match. Obviously not a lot of rallies, not a lot of long points.
