NORWALK, CT — Weeks after confirming the exciting news that a new 3,000-square-foot retail space was in the works, Wave Hill Breads officially unveiled their new store, located at 239 Westport Avenue in Norwalk, last week.
Back in June, Co-Owner Angela Topi confirmed to Patch the new spot also includes kitchen space and two back rooms for educational workshops and team building.
Topi owns Wave Hill Breads with her husband, head baker Tim. The pair officially opened the doors to their new Westport Avenue store Wednesday morning, according to the bakery’s Facebook page.

“It is a good morning indeed,” the bakery posted on July 10.
On Saturday, customers could be found inside enjoying a wide selection of hot and iced coffees along with warm, freshly-baked croissants, muffins and other baked goods.

The Westport Avenue store features a display case where customers can view the bakery’s breads, cookies and pastries, including apple turnovers and monkey bread, more clearly.
In addition to the new space, Wave Hill still currently sells breads, pastries and other items from its original High Street bakery.
Topi said last month the High Street bakery will still be the main production facility for their wholesale accounts and farmer’s markets, while the new Westport Avenue facility will mainly be used for retail.
“Baking will occur on site [on Westport Avenue] strictly for retail purposes, no wholesale interference, baked fresh daily,” Topi said. “We will offer catering services down the line.”

Customers who are already fans of Wave Hill will now be able to get their favorite products at the much larger Westport Avenue facility, according to Topi.
“All of the same products from our High Street bakery will be offered at the retail space, plus exclusive items as well,” Topi said. “We will also be selling local and imported specialty artisan products.”
New to the retail space is a wide menu of sandwiches, served on Wave Hill bread of course.
Highlights include a breakfast sandwich made with fried organic eggs, crispy genoa salami, arugula and Calabrian chili mayo on an original 3-grain roll and the “Growing Boy,” featuring braised beef with sharp provolone, roasted tomatoes, horseradish aioli, pepperoncini and a fried egg served on a wild yeast sourdough batard.
A request for comment from Wave Hill Breads about the opening of the new retail space was not immediately returned Tuesday.
In addition to operating their first retail location, Topi said last month Wave Hill plans to host educational bread and cooking classes, birthday parties, private events and other events at the new Westport Avenue shop.

The Westport Avenue store’s hours are not currently listed online. The High Street bakery is open daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Wave Hill Breads opened in Wilton in 2005 before moving to High Street in 2011, according to the bakery’s website.
Topi and her husband purchased the bakery from previous owners Margaret Sapir and Mitch Rapoport in September 2015.
In addition to a wide variety of specialty breads, including a ciabatta with olives and roasted red peppers and a whole grain multi-grain boule, the bakery also offers pastries such as cookies, muffins and hand-shaped croissants among other products.
Wave Hill products can often also be found at various local farmer’s markets and in a number of area stores and restaurants.
