“Final Call is very excited to host a show to support two local charities from near our hometown [of Huntington],” Greg Diem, lead guitarist of the band, told Patch. “We are happy to have everyone come together to both enjoy music and have a great time while raising money and awareness for two great causes. With this concert, we’re excited to fund lifesaving research and help financially support families who have a child fighting cancer.”
The Olivia Hope Foundation was created in memory of Olivia Hope LoRusso, who died of acute myeloid leukemia in 2017 at the age of 12. It was founded by her mother, Shelley.

“We are very excited to be a part of a concert for such a great cause,” LoRusso said. “We look forward to hearing all the music and are grateful for the bands’ willingness to be involved in supporting the childhood cancer community.”
Maggie’s Mission was founded by Donna and Steve Schmidt in memory of their daughter, Maggie. Maggie’s Mission has been funding cancer research and helping families in need since 2017.
Donna said she is excited for the concert and eager to work with Olivia Hope Foundation, as she and Shelley are friends.
“Their cause is important to me as friends,” Donna said. “I’m super excited to have the bands come together and perform music to help fight pediatric cancers. Music was a huge part of Maggie’s life. We’re really grateful for people we don’t even know donating their time to raise awareness for this cause and raising money to help kids like Maggie and Olivia.”
Each band will play original material, as well as covers of songs that Olivia and Maggie enjoyed. Some expected covers will be The Beatles and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Charlotte’s Frozen Yogurt, at 294 Main St., Farmingdale, is hosting its own fundraiser for the Olivia Hope Foundation on Saturday and Sunday. People can purchase small comic book posters, where all proceeds will go to charity, as well as a portion of ice cream sales over the two days.
