Family Members Of 4 UP Residents Who Were Killed In Nepal Crash Unable To Identify Bodies

The family members of four men from Ghazipur who were killed in a plane crash in Nepal failed to make out the bodies of their loved ones among the 25 charred bodies shown to them on Wednesday. The development comes after a family member of each of the four young victims left for Kathmandu on Monday to receive the mortal remains.

Failed to identify victims from among 25 bodies

The agonising wait has become longer for family members as they couldn’t identify the victims from among the 25 shown to them as the bodies were completely charred.

Now, the bereaved family members will be shown the remaining bodies on Friday or Saturday. As per reports, handing over the bodies will take time; if DNA sampling is required, it will take additional time.

“We were shown 25 bodies that were badly burnt. Now it it expected that we will be shown more bodies on Friday or Saturday. The rules here (in Nepal) are different due to which the process of handing over the bodies will take time,” Abhinash Kushwaha, brother of one of the dead Abhihesk Kushwaha, told PTI over phone from Nepal.

DNA sampling if they can’t identify bodies

“If we are not able to identify the bodies, DNA sampling will be done which is a time-taking process,” he added. He said they saw a shoe in a picture, but nothing could be ascertained from it.

Five Indians, including four from Ghazipur and one from Bihar, were on board the Yeti Airlines ATR 72 aircraft which crashed in Pokhara on Sunday. All 72 people on board the plane are believed to be dead, as rescue workers have not found any survivors so far.
