He was five quarters away from another playoff run when it likely went up in smoke.
Demaryius Thomas crumpled to field in pain at the start of the fourth quarter in the Texans-Eagles game Sunday, a dreaded non-contact injury that could see his season end just before the playoffs dawn.
The standout wide receiver, who won a Super Bowl with the Broncos, tried to get off the field on his own — while hopping on his right foot — but collapsed a second time to the ground, slamming his fist on the field as trainers looked at his left leg. He was soon carted off with a towel covering his head.
Houston announced Thomas would not return to the game with an Achilles injury.
This was Thomas’ seventh game with the Texans, who lead the AFC South, since being dealt from Denver.
