The family of 20-year-old Anjali Singh, who was killed after she was hit by a car and dragged on the road for 12kms on Delhi’s Kanjhawala on News Year’s eve, has rejected the claims made by her friend and the only eye witness in the case, that the victim was drunk at the time of the accident.
Bhupendra Singh Chaurasia, a family member of Anjali, claimed that the post-mortem report showed no signs of her having alcohol.
What Anjali’s post-mortem report said
Chaurasia said that the autopsy report suggested that no abnormality has been detected and no alcohol was found in the abdomen region.
“The brain is still missing and it fell off from the skull in the Kanjhawala area. There are a total of 40 injuries out of which 20 to 25 are grazed abrasions. There were 14-15 injuries after her death. Some of the injuries were inconspicuous due to blackening, smudging, and brush burn effects,” said Chaurasia while reading the autopsy report.
“It is a pre-planned murder. Anjali’s ribs were exposed from the back of the chest. Her lungs were exposed and out,” he said further.

Victim not sexually assaulted
The initial findings of the autopsy conducted under the supervision of a medical board at the Maulana Azad Medical College premises on Monday had also ruled out sexual assault.
Anjali’s family had raised suspicion that she could have been sexually abused by the accused.
What Nidhi said
On Tuesday, Nidhi, who was riding pillion on the ill-fated scooty on Sunday night, had claimed that Anjaly was heavily drunk at the time of the accident.
“She had consumed a lot of alcohol. We even had a fight over who would drive the scooty. She was not at all in her senses. Before that accident, she was about to ram into a truck but I somehow managed to apply the brakes on time even as I was seated behind her… and we got saved,” Nidhi had claimed.
The two women were leaving Vivan Palace OYO hotel after attending a New Year’s party when they met with the accident.
I was scared: Nidhi
Nidhi, who sustained minor injuries after she fell on the road, had fled the scene and had remained silent about the accident in which her friend lost her life.
“I ran from the spot as I was scared and did not understand what to do,” she had said.
Narrating the incident, Nidhi had claimed the accused killed her deliberately.
“The brown colour Baleno hit the scooter from the opposite side. She fell in front of the car and I fell on the side. They ran the car over her. And they knew that she was under the car but they did not stop. She was yelling. They deliberately killed her,” she said.
