De Blasio trashes PBA chief’s Dante barbs as ‘ridiculous, shameful’

Mayor Bill de Blasio ripped a top NYPD union boss Thursday for criticizing his decision to mention during Wednesday’s presidential debate that he had schooled his mixed-race son Dante about how to stay safe during encounters with cops.

“Ridiculous. Ridiculous and shameful,” the mayor told The Post in Florida about comments from Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch.

“We’ve been down this road before. Tens of millions of American parents have had the very same conversation with their children that I talk about I had with Dante,” Hizzoner fumed.

“Tens of millions and we should be able to acknowledge that openly in this country and then talk about how we heal that, how we fix that.”

Lynch had slammed DeBlasio for using what he called “anti-police rhetoric” during Wednesday’s debate in Miami.

“Mayor de Blasio has apparently learned nothing over the past six years about the extremely damaging impact of anti-police rhetoric on both cops and the communities we serve,” Lynch had said in a statement.

But de Blasio was having none of it, and ripped the PBA chief, without mentioning his name.

“I said, ‘Look we are bringing police and community together in New York, that’s something that should be celebrated.’ I am not surprised that that individual continues to want to divide us. I’m talking about how to overcome our past and bring us together.”
