NXT referee Drake Wuertz, who didn’t appear on last night’s NXT, spoke at last night’s Seminole County Public Schools school board meeting. Wuertz argued against mask mandates in Seminole County schools and again — without evidence — claimed that mask mandates allow sex traffickers to more easily prey on children.
For fans attending NXT episodes at the Capitol Wrestling Center, WWE will now be providing free COVID-19 testing on the night of the event. With WWE providing tests on the night of the show, there is no longer the requirement for fans to receive a COVID-19 test the day before attending.

ESPN’s Ariel Helwani has an interview with Ric Flair. Flair discussed not liking the storyline that he, Charlotte Flair, and Lacey Evans were involved in earlier this year:
In this instance, I didn’t. The one thing I’ve learned is you aren’t going to win a war when someone has their mind made up and she (Charlotte Flair) most definitely didn’t like it. The one thing I can say about me, I always said ‘yes.’ I didn’t want to be that guy that always goes ‘that isn’t perfect for me.’ I don’t know how much you’ve followed my career but I’ve been buried in the desert by Russo, I’ve had my head shaved. If you look at the other top guys in history whether it’s Shawn (Michaels) or Hunter or Undertaker or Bret Hart no one has gone through this. I’ve done everything. I got fired for a year for taking my son to the AAU nationals where Dan Severn was the master of ceremonies, and he won. I’ve weathered every storm and I’ve come back.
This was something new and I got to TV and Mr. McMahon wasn’t there to argue the point with and he had stuff going on and I don’t like to put the pressure on someone if I can’t talk to him. He just made up his mind. I think a lot of it is because she’s a Marine and God only knows, we cannot give enough back to the people that served in the military, that’s a given. I think he wanted her to be successful and the way to get successful sometimes is to take two other people that are doing well and give them the rub. She’s a very nice girl, it didn’t fit this time, you know what I mean? But we made the best of it and ultimately, she’s pregnant now with her husband and it wasn’t anything personal. I barely knew her and her whole life is her husband and her daughter.
I didn’t like that one. To him (McMahon), I’m always going to be the ‘Kiss stealing, wheeling-dealing…’ you know what I mean? Which is great because he likes that even though he hated when I used to say it. He used to say, ‘’80s heels don’t draw.’
TEG Dainty announced that WWE’s three-show tour of Australia and New Zealand has been rescheduled again and is now set for August 2022. The shows were most recently scheduled to take place this July.

Other Wrestling
Jon Moxley told Sports Illustrated about how his match against Yuji Nagata on tonight’s Dynamite came to be: “[NJPW] Strong is a great hour of professional wrestling, and it’s great for the young guys and it’s great for the fans. I love being a part of it. I heard from [New Japan’s] Rocky Romero, who told me Gedo still wanted to do me against Nagata, and that he was flying him out to America for Strong. So that was our plan, and I thought that was f—— awesome. Tony [Khan] asked, ‘Why not do it on Dynamite?’ And I said, ‘If we can, then f— yeah, that would be bigger, especially for a legend like Nagata.’ We both loved that it would be a chance for Nagata to be back on TNT. Before I knew it, Tony talked to New Japan, and now it’s happening. And it’s a chance to celebrate his career.”
AEW World Champion Kenny Omega will address his Double or Nothing challenger on tonight’s Dynamite. PAC and Orange Cassidy are facing off on tonight’s show to determine Omega’s challenger for Double or Nothing.
Ricky Starks tweeted about the news that he’ll be out of action for three months due to a fractured neck: “Overwhelmed. Feeling the love. I love wrestling.”

AEW announced this week’s roster rankings.
On the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling’s 500th episode, Kurt Angle spoke about Shaquille O’Neal texting him to come to AEW and why it isn’t going to happen: “I’m in the best shape of my life, but I’m not going to wrestle. I’m done with that. Shaquille O’Neal just texted me today and said, ‘You need to come to AEW.’ I was like, ‘I’m not going to do that.’ Actually, if I did wrestle again, it would be most likely for WWE, but I’m not going to do that. AEW was always an option, I just never really considered it because I’m retired. I’ve heard the rumors. That’s what they are. They’re just rumors. People like to talk. They like to get excited about things, and, unfortunately, that’s not going to happen.”
