Bristol Police Captain Wins RI Female Police Leader Of The Year Award

BRISTOL, RI — Bristol police Capt. Julie Kearney Veader received statewide recognition for her leadership in the department.

Kearney Veader received the “Female Police Leader of the Year” award on Tuesday at the Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association’s annual award ceremony.

“It’s a well deserved honor for Captain Kearney Veader and the department, and I thank Deputy Chief McNally for nominating her,” Police Chief Kevin Lynch said. “It’s a testament to her commitment to excellence, and celebrating her award today with her esteemed colleagues and family was such an honor.”

Kearney Veader has been with the Bristol Police Department for more than 27 years, beginning in 1997. During her time on the police force, she has served several roles, including as a detective and a lieutenant.

“Captain Kearney Veader has been a driving force in keeping Bristol the safest community in the State, and we remain indebted to her continued service to our town,” Town Administrator Steven Contente said. “Thanks for making a difference Captain.”
