Update: We have an update on the situation with an official statement and decision from WWE at this link.
Original Story:
We apologize in advance for ruining your day, but we’ve got some awful news concerning Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and this weekend’s Survivor Series pay-per-view.
According to Sean Ross Sapp at Fightful.com, Lynch has been pulled from her highly anticipated match at this Sunday’s event in Los Angeles, where she was scheduled to face Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey in what was being positioned as the main event of the evening.
Becky, who has been on a red hot streak in recent months, led an invasion of blue brand stars in the closing segment of Monday Night Raw this week, after attacking Rousey backstage. During a wild brawl she was split open after taking a stiff shot from Nia Jax, and bled profusely for several minutes until the show went off the air.
It’s believed that Becky may have suffered a concussion and potentially a broken nose, although we await an official confirmation from WWE for more information.
Obviously with one half of the show’s main event (or at least semi-main event) reportedly out of action, the Survivor Series card is going to see some big last-minute changes. They did run an angle on Raw where Becky severely damaged Rousey’s arm, to the point where she couldn’t even throw a punch, so it’s possible they may have inadvertently booked themselves an “out” from a creative standpoint.
