Bills are in an uproar over ‘BS’ Pro Bowl nods

Don’t think the Pro Bowl matters? Just ask the Bills.

A 5-9 team is not happy about not being recognized for its feats this season, as Buffalo was shut out of the Pro Bowl, joining the Raiders and Buccaneers as the only teams that weren’t honored (though, many alternates will pop up).

The Bills, while fielding a terrible offense, do have a solid case for defensive snubs; the unit is second best in terms of yards given up, trailing only Baltimore, and veteran linebacker Lorenzo Alexander is having a standout season with 6.5 sacks and a forced fumble.

“I think it’s BS, to be honest,” wide receiver Zay Jones told reporters, according to NewYorkUpstate. “If you look at the production that our guys have had and the numbers. As a whole, our defense has played phenomenal, and it’s one of the top-ranked defenses in the league. I know that Kyle [Williams] and Jerry [Hughes] were alternates, and not to say that that’s anything to look down on, but to have guys not be in the Pro Bowl, I think it’s crap.

“In my personal opinion, Tre’Davious White should be in the conversation, Jerry should be in the conversation, Kyle and Lorenzo should definitely both be Pro Bowlers. Jordan Poyer — I know Micah Hyde was previously. It’s frustrating because I see the work these guys put in day in and day out and to get snubbed like that, I don’t agree with that at all. I wish there was a better way that it could be done and handled. I want to see Bills players in it. I feel like we’re overlooked.”

It is easy to overlook a team that is not good. Still, the only AFC East team worse than them, the 4-10 Jets, did secure three Pro Bowlers.

“Nobody made the Pro Bowl?” Buffalo kicker Stephen Hauschka said. “That’s embarrassing.”

The Pro Bowl really only matters to degenerate gamblers and players, especially with contract incentives on the line.

“That is [disappointing],” White, a cornerback, told reporters. “I want guys like Lorenzo, guys like Jordan Poyer, Matt Milano, those guys deserve to be in that, man. We’re the No. 1 defense in the league, you know? It’s crazy that we didn’t get at least one guy on it. It’s definitely disappointing.”
