Behind the scenes at Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign launch – a bizarre mix of political panto, prayers and power ballads
After a day of sudden thunderstorms over Orlando followed by cloying heat, the rally to formally launch Mr Trump’s 2020 bid begun as they often do — with a prayer.
“Father, you have raised President Trump up for such a time as this,” said Paula White, Mr Trump’s spiritual adviser and personal pastor.
“Let every demonic network that has aligned itself against the purpose, against the calling of President Trump, let it be broken, let it be torn down in the name of Jesus.”
With an “Amen” from the crowd, the opening ceremony continued with the pledge of allegiance followed by the national anthem.
