Becky Lynch was recently named the 2018 Wrestler of the Year by CBS Sports. The announcement came in an article written by Adam Silverstein on December 26.
There is no disputing the impact that “The Man” has had on WWE in 2018. Lynch took a popular babyface career and completely reinvented herself as the company’s coolest antihero. Following in the footsteps of Dean Ambrose, CM Punk, Stone Cold Steve Austin and others, Lynch became the anti-establishment voice of the times.
Becky’s character was indeed revitalized at SummerSlam, when she betrayed longtime best friend Charlotte Flair. Lynch took the low road against The Queen that night and continued to do so in the weeks that followed. It was obvious that WWE was building Becky as the newest heel. But fans had something else in mind.
The WWE faithful supported Becky throughout the entire heel turn to the point that it was no longer a heel turn. Becky is the most popular babyface on the roster right now and that doesn’t appear to be changing any time soon.
She’s no longer the SmackDown Women’s champion but that has not affected her standing with the fans. Lynch continues to impress in the ring, on the mic and on social media, where she has called out anyone that dares to question her.

Becky’s heat with current Raw Women’s champion Ronda Rousey also continues to boil, as the two women are obviously headed for a major confrontation sometime down the road.
