Bautista Agut could have beaten Roger Federer, says coach

Looking at the head to head meetings with Big Three players, seems the one feels most comfortable with. Speaking to Punto de Break, the Spaniards coach commented on it.

Its a real statistic, although with Roger we recently had situations where he could win. With Rafa, we only faced each other twice and on favourable surfaces for him. Rober is improving as a tennis player, he is more and more complete and it allows him to get closer little by little to compete with these three monsters.

We played Novak most times (2-7) and it gives us more information in planning thing. Hopefully, we can break this statistic with the other two players. Bautista Agut lost to Federer in a close three-set match at the Shanghai Masters third round last year.

After the match, the 29-year-old claimed the Swiss got some favouritism from the umpire. Once again, Bautista Agut won a title in January: The starts to the year are very good, without a doubt. They are already four seasons with a title, but years ago he had already started with great feelings.

You have to highlight the kind of surface, the swing conditions, the ball gets faster and goes away less than usual… All this helps him feeling comfortable and causing stress to the opponents. The consequence is this one, apart from that he is coming from having a good pre-season and the work always makes him feel very confident.

Its a mix of everything, although Rober is a person that needs less time to feel competitive, he has a lot of instinct, other players may need more time to reach their best level. ALSO READ: Rafael Nadal: Worse players than David Ferrer won a Grand Slam title
