Batista Comments On Discussing Full-Time WWE Return
Batista recently appeared on The Ross Report to discuss among other things a possible full-time return to WWE.
The former six-time WWE World Champ left the company in 2010 and only briefly returned for five months in 2014 to reform Evolution with Triple H and Randy Orton to battle The Shield in the WrestleMania 30 main event.
Batista is better known these days for his role as Drax the Destroyer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, but he spoke of The Ross Report about his desire to wrestle again:
“Yes, I would love to go back. But, the reason why I haven’t gone back is because I don’t want to do a one-off. I want to go [back] and I want to wrestle, man. I want to do some house shows and I want to be a part of the program and I love it. You know, the one-off thing, the cheap pop thing, man it doesn’t do anything for me. So know it’s a matter of scheduling, and if I could go back and, you know, if I happen to get injured, is it gonna affect something else?” (h/t WrestlingNews.Co for transcription)
He added that it took him a “good three months” to get the reaction that he wanted during his last run, and a cheap pop “turns him off.” He admitted that he has talked to Vince McMahon recently to discuss a return, and reiterated that he would love to come back and have a feud with Triple H.
He said he’s never burned the bridge with WWE, making a return at some point possible:
“[One-off discussions] has been the issue with me, because… I’ve never burned that bridge, and it really is because I still love wrestling and everybody in the WWE has always been really good to me. I have my gripes with the company, which I’m sure everybody does. But at the same time, I don’t ever disrespect the company intentionally. I don’t really have a reason to, but also because I didn’t leave there under bad circumstances. I left just because I wanted to pursue other things. I didn’t walk out on them, I let my contract run out, they knew I was gonna be leaving. So, I did business the right way, and I’m really thankful that I did.”
