Baker Mayfield calls out Browns fans after seeing crowd size

Baker Mayfield is finally delivering wins to Cleveland.

Now he wants Browns fans to hold up their end of the deal.

After leading the way to a 26-20 win over the Panthers on Sunday, Mayfield called out Browns fans, imploring them to show up for their last home game of the season in two weeks at FirstEnergy Stadium.

“We would love to have more fan support,’’ Mayfield told reporters. “Today was cold, I get it, but having more people, especially at our last home game coming up, we would love to have more people in the stands cheering for us because we feed off of the energy.

“You can tell it’s very obvious. I don’t have to say it how our defense feeds off of the energy in the stadium, and being able to start fast and get that going and put teams in a bind and put pressure on them.”

It was 28 degrees at kickoff for the Browns’ win over the Panthers, and while the official paid attendance was 59,392 — of a capacity 67,895 — thousands of seats were empty, according to cleveland.com.

The Browns have won three of their last four games since firing head coach Hue Jackson and now stand at 5-7-1, already their most wins since 2014. Mayfield has played a major part in reviving them, with his latest showing including a highlight-reel 51-yard touchdown pass to Jarvis Landry.

In the Browns’ last three wins, Mayfield has completed 54-of-68 passes for 712 yards, eight touchdowns and no interceptions.
