Auto Parts Retailer To Close 138 CA Locations; Over 1,600 Jobs To Be Lost

CALIFORNIA — Advance Auto Parts plans to close 138 of its California stores and distribution centers, leading to a loss of over 1,600 jobs statewide, according to filings with the state’s labor agency.

The auto parts retailer, which has around 5,000 stores, earlier this month announced it would close 500 corporate stores, 200 independently owned locations and four distribution centers nationwide by the middle of next year.

“The company is executing a strategic plan to improve business performance with a focus on core retail improvements,” executives said in a release announcing its Q3 earnings.
