The preliminary results are in for 2019’s Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards, and the picture-perfect specimens were caught in the act — of being adorable.
From a booty-slapping fox to friendly bugs and toothy zebras, these animal-world comedians sure know how to make humans chuckle.

Only 40 photos made the competition’s penultimate round, and the final winners will be announced on Nov. 13. For those with strong feelings about which critter posed best, there’s a “people’s choice award” open to public vote.
The competition, founded in 2015, seeks to achieve “conservation through competition,” according to its motto. Picking winners, the site reads, is an “absolute delight for the judges.”

The past four years of the awards have seen sleepy bears, excited bears, sassy gorillas and picky gorillas acknowledged for their incredible ability to entertain human audiences.
