Tennis – will be auctioning off the outfit she wore when she won Wimbledon with proceeds of the same going to charity. Kerber wore the outfit when she beat Serena Williams 6-3, 6-3 in the womens singles final at Wimbledon on July 14th in 2018.
The proceeds of the same will go to Hanau-based network Inklusion Deutschland without any deductions. Fans can bid for the outfit on Europes largest charity gift portal: United Charity. The auction will continue till January 14, 2019.
The United Charity site described the outfit as a piece of sports history and consists of a skirt and a top, both of which are in white, and has been signed in the front by Kerber. Kerber, who was recently named German Athlete of the Year for the second time in her career, begins the new season in Perth at the Hopman Cup.
She will partner Alexander Zverev in Perth and the Germans are placed in Group A – alongside Spain, France and host Australia. Germany have won the Hopman Cup on two occasions in the past and reached the final last year where they were beaten by the Swiss team of Roger Federer and Belinda Bencic.
Kerber and Zverev will play their first match on Sunday when the Germans take on Spain, followed by fixtures against France and then Australia. Currently, the highest bid stands at 1,250 Euros.
